About the Plan
The SUN EARTH PLAN aims to communicate the excitement of the UK's space research programme to the public. To satisfy this aim, active research scientists have teamed up with science communicators and a professional web-design team to create sunearthplan.net.
February 2007 sees the launch of the International Heliophysical Year (IHY), an international programme of research into the region of space dominated by our Sun. UK scientist are at the forefront of worldwide activities to better understand the relationship between our nearest star and the planets in our solar system - including our own! Many of them will contribute to sunearthplan.net over the coming 18 months.
The project is coordinated by Dr Jim Wild of the Department of Communication Systems at Lancaster University. The SUN EARTH PLAN is funded by the UK Science and Technology Facilities Council.
