Suntrek goes live!

A new website aimed at enthusing and educating 10-14 year old students (KS3/4) and their teachers about the Sun at its effect on the Earth has just gone live. Sun|trek has been produced by a team of UK solar researchers and teachers.

Sun|trek  (www.suntrek.org) is packed with spectacular images and movies of the Sun from solar space observations which can be downloaded for classroom work. As well as including material relevant to the 'Earth and Beyond' part of the curriculum, Sun|trek covers environmental issues such as alternative energy sources and can also be used to illustrate many physical concepts, such as electromagnetic radiation (UV and X-rays), waves, magnetism, energy and gravity.

Your journey around Sun|trek is narrated by 'solar guides' - young researchers working at the cutting edge of solar science. Sun|trek also contains classroom projects and ideas, together with useful links to other educational websites.

The Sun|trek project is led by Helen Mason, University of Cambridge, and funded by the Science and Technology Facilities Council (formally PPARC).
